Wards Solicitors LLP, one of the longest-established law firms in Bristol, is marking its 120th anniversary with a major relocation of its head office to a new central hub in Bristol this summer. The move will consolidate Wards’ two existing Bristol offices under one roof for the first time, strengthening its presence in the heart of the city.
James Taylor, Dispute Resolution Partner at Wards Solicitors and a member of the Bristol Sterling Network Group, has been with the firm for nearly 19 years. He reflects on the firm’s strong roots and continued growth: “The stability of a well-established firm with deep connections to the communities we serve was a major factor in my decision to join Wards in 2006. Since then, we’ve expanded our office network further into South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset, and we’re now looking forward to the exciting launch of our new central Bristol office in 2025.”

How Wards Solicitors is Celebrating 120 Years
As part of its anniversary celebrations, Wards Solicitors is embarking on a series of exciting initiatives:
A Landmark Move: The firm’s head office will relocate from Broad Street—its home for over 70 years—to new, modern premises within the Prudential Building on Wine Street. This light, inviting space is just a 10-minute walk from Temple Meads Station and close to Wards’ former location.
A Prestigious New Partnership: Wards is set to announce a collaboration with one of Bristol’s oldest and most iconic live music venues, with details to be revealed soon.
Charity and Community Initiatives: The firm is launching a variety of fundraising efforts, including a 25km sponsored walk in the Cotswolds in support of its charity of the year, 1625 Independent People, which works to prevent homelessness and support young people in Bristol and the South West.
Ongoing Community Support: Wards remains committed to engaging with local projects, from charity Write a Will schemes to sponsoring grassroots sports teams in football, rugby, and cricket. The firm will also continue offering free Wills and Probate advice sessions at select offices.

Since its inception, Wards Solicitors has evolved to meet the changing needs of its clients while staying true to its core values. Originally founded as JW Ward and Son, the firm rebranded as Wards Solicitors in 1996 and became Wards Solicitors LLP in 2018.
