Sterling Networks celebrates

Sterling Networks celebrates its first decade with Big Breakfast & Expo in Worcester

Networking. Sometimes it’s good, at other times you come away from an event wondering why you bothered turning up. That’s unless you’ve been to a Sterling Networks meeting, in which case you’re more likely to be feeling as if you’ve won a business lottery.

10 years ago, Neil and Tracey Davis spotted an opportunity to revolutionise the networking experience. As joint owners of a manufacturing company, they were doing trade shows all over UK and Europe. They loved the buzz of the trade shows and exhibitions and wanted to create a more personalised networking experience for local businesses.

Sterling Networks was launched in November 2011 with their first Expo taking place in Cheltenham in March 2012. Neil and Tracey haven’t looked back since. Their total number of Expos is now over 60 and networking meetings take place in 8 geographical regions including Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, South West, Gloucestershire, West Midlands, Worcestershire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire. With their next Big Breakfast and Sterling Expo at Sixways on 18 November, their 10th Anniversary year is set to go out with a bang.

‘What makes Sterling different is that we are genuinely passionate about seeing brands grow’ says Neil ‘We love giving business owners the opportunity to build those all-important connections. No-one can set up and run a successful business in isolation. At Sterling, business owners gain access to a huge range of skill sets and experience simply by networking’

The business is constantly evolving and adapting. During lockdown, Sterling went virtual with all groups moving online in 10 days. The Sterling team has grown from 4 to 10 and a burgeoning partnership with Metro Bank has given members access to a much wider range of local venues. Sterling Maximise, a programme designed to help members maximise the benefits from their membership, was launched in December 2020.

‘Even though the business has grown a huge amount in the last 10 years, we want to maintain the positive energy and friendly atmosphere we had when we started’ says Tracey ‘Members often have a really good laugh as well as finding each other business opportunities. We’re just so incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved along with our amazing team. Roll on the next 10 years!’
