Sterling Networks member and Group Leader of the Birmingham Brunch group, Ronaldo recently achieved an extraordinary personal milestone by reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak and one of the world’s most iconic climbs. As a valued leader within the Sterling community, Ronaldo took on this challenge not only as a personal test of endurance, but also in support of Mens Prosperity Club and The Samaritans.
In the months leading up to the expedition, Ronaldo committed himself to disciplined preparation. Running almost daily across the UK, regardless of the weather, he focused on building the stamina and resilience required for such a demanding ascent. Determined to capture the journey properly, he also invested in a new camera to document every stage of the climb — from training days at home to the dramatic landscapes of Tanzania.
The journey presented challenges from the very start. A missed flight at the airport could have disrupted the entire expedition. However, rather than allowing it to halt his plans, Ronaldo treated it as a lesson in patience and adaptability — an early reminder that resilience would be essential throughout the climb.
On the mountain, Ronaldo and his hiking team faced snowy terrain and a heavy, moist atmosphere that made breathing and progress increasingly difficult. Step by step, through thinning air and freezing conditions, they persevered together. Their determination was rewarded when they reached the summit. In an emotional moment, Ronaldo raised the flag of Jamaica at the peak — a powerful symbol of heritage, pride and achievement. Overcome with emotion, he reflected on the significance of standing at the highest point in Africa.
Throughout this challenge, Ronaldo was supported by generous donors backing his fundraising efforts for The Samaritans. He extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed and helped turn this climb into something far greater than a personal accomplishment.
