On one of the hottest days of the year, property and construction consultancy Ridge and Partners LLP gathered together staff, suppliers and clients to don their lycra and complete 35- or 55-mile routes around the Oxfordshire countryside.
Despite the beating sun, 65 cyclists took part and raised a huge £1,385 for Ronald McDonald House Charities UK to ensure the Charity can keep providing free accommodation to families with a sick baby or poorly child in hospital.
Ronald McDonald House Charities UK Corporate Fundraiser Caroline Sinclair said, “I would like to say a huge thank you to Ridge for raising such a fantastic amount of money to help support families with a child in hospital. This money will help so many families to have somewhere free, clean and comfortable to stay at a very anxious time. Our Houses, including the 62 bedroom facility at Oxford’s John Radcliffe hospital are vitally important and it would not be possible to keep the doors open without wonderful supporters like Ridge.”
COVID brought a stop to doing things like this, however on Saturday 10 September myself and five friends are setting out to fundraise again for Dorothy House Hospice Care by undertaking the Amigos Walk around the Isle of Portland in Dorset.
In the last five years three of us on the walk will have had experience of cancer, my friend above, another who has recently undergone chemo treatment and my own cancer operation in 2020 and so we have decided to walk the Isle to raise funds for this valuable local charity.
We are attending to stop at Portland Bill Lighthouse at which point the Singing Taxman well do a couple of numbers if he has enough puff left
