Hilary Nightingale is a copywriter and sole trader who attends Sterling Witney Breakfast, and she has an unusual side-hustle. Although she calls it a side hustle, in fact it doesn’t make her any money and is a massive drain on her funds! But she loves it and wouldn’t give it up easily.
Hilary is a hedgehog nurse and rehabilitator – a venture funded by her micro business.
The ‘hogspital’ is not a registered charity as Hilary works in her spare time outside of running her business. Therefore she must rely on her own funds, or the occasional donation from the community and hedgehog finders to run the facility.
Since August 2024 Hilary has taken in 41 sick and injured hedgehogs and has since built a micro pod in the back garden specifically for this purpose.Hilary proudly shares her USP, “If you work with me, part of your fee will go towards the care of one of the UK’s most beloved and sadly near-endangered wild species.
