The Bristol Yard in winter is a beautiful place!! Our guys and girls enjoy the early starts and getting ahead of the traffic – this means we can start jobs early and make good progress in delivering value at every job. Pruning or removing trees in the winter can be a challenging task – not just the wet ground and difficult access, but the soggy trousers and numb fingers can make it quite uncomfortable sometimes!!! We have drying rooms running throughout the winter to make sure that teams have dry warm gear in the mornings as they head out into the on-coming adventures each day presents. The winter pruning of fruiting and flowering ornamental trees and shrubs is a lot of fun and can be quite artistic – something not all chainsaw wielding operators get to enjoy.
Consultants
The consultants can make the most of the ‘naked trees’ at this time of year!! The fact that the deciduous trees have laid down their mosaic coverings (leaves) for the winter means we can see what is going on with the limbs and stems – with broken branches, storm damage and splits in the trees structures now being visible. Tree Risk Assessments are a critical part of landscape management for domestic and commercial clients – I like to think we’ve saved a lot of clients (and passing members of the public!) a lot of potential ‘hassle’ from trees falling over or breaking and causing damage to property or people. All trees overhanging or next to areas of public access should be assessed annually to comply with insurance requirements.
