Richard Burrage, Senior Business Development Manager at Telappliant Limited, has challenged himself to complete the equivalent of the 874 mile journey from Lands’ End to John o’ Groats in just 12 days on a spin bike.
The End to End Challenge was originally designed for groups of people to complete the epic journey and raise awareness and vital funds for Birmingham Hospice. Richard has decided to go one step further and take on the challenge alone! Richard will have from Monday 26 June to Friday 7 July to complete the required miles, equating to an incredible average of 73 miles per day.
Birmingham Hospice, formerly Birmingham St Mary’s and John Taylor Hospices, provides specialist end of life care for people living with a terminal diagnosis, and their families. Making every moment matter for patients and their loved ones is at the heart of everything the charity does. They believe that everyone living with a terminal diagnosis should be able to live and die with dignity and comfort, and access the care of their choice, whenever and wherever they want to. Each year, after NHS funding, Birmingham Hospice need to raise £5.5 million from voluntary donations so local people can receive the vital care and support they need.

It costs £495 for 24 hours of nursing support for a person being cared for in one of Birmingham Hospices Inpatient Units. Once Richard has reached his fundraising target of £500 and gone End to End, his fundraising and people’s generous donations could pay for 24 hours of support for those living with a terminal diagnosis.
