In a tale of cross-continental exploration and entrepreneurial spirit, the Gard family embarked on a journey from the sun-soaked landscapes of South Africa to the picturesque charm of Crediton, just outside Exeter in the United Kingdom. Their move was driven by a thirst for new horizons, a sense of familial connection, and a desire to extend their digital marketing expertise to the heart of Devon.
Hailing from the scenic town of Kloof, nestled in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, the Gard family – Nick, Melanie, Isabelle (15), and Leo (11) – embarked on an adventure to embrace new opportunities across the ocean.
Melanie, a South African native, and Nick, originally from England, own two offices of WSI, the world’s largest Digital Marketing network. Their agency’s expertise focuses on search engine marketing specifically Google Ads, search engine optimisation (SEO) and content marketing. Their team in Durban, South Africa has been exceeding clients’ marketing expectations since 2009, and the office is a Badged Google Partner. In 2019, Mel and Nick opened another office in the UK.
Nick joined the Exeter Sterling Group in 2021 in anticipation of their move to Exeter. The group has proved invaluable, offering networking opportunities and a wellspring of advice, support, and inspiration. Now, the Gard’s are ready to return the favour in person and add value to their new community.

As the Gard’s settle into their new life in Devon, they are rooting their aspirations in community growth.
