Stroud based charity, Allsorts Gloucestershire brings families together who have disabled children, providing long lasting support networks and reducing feelings of isolation.
It focuses on enabling members to have new experiences, to improve their physical and mental health. Allsorts also provides support groups, for all members of the family from siblings to grandparents, to help build a resilient family unit. Fun is at the heart of everything Allsorts does as it feels everyone should be able to find enjoyment in life, companionship, and a sense of belonging.
It’s been a busy month, as Rachael Fletcher, Fundraising Manger has been telling us. First, there was the Firewalk and then the Malvern Hills challenge!
On 29th September 11 dare devil fundraisers walked on coals for Allsorts at Stonehouse Court Hotel. Janet Dowling, Sterling Regency Member took part;
“What fun the Firewalk was. I felt a great sense of achievement after the first walk and excitement for the second. It felt all the better because it helped raise funds for Allsorts. I had the privilege of visiting the centre and felt the warmth and support the moment I walked in. The children there were having a delightful time and clearly felt comfortable and confident there. What a wonderful place.”
Then a couple of weeks later Tim Chamberlain from Cheltenham Central joined Rachael and another 12 fundraisers, supporting by Elite Adventures to walk the Malvern Hills for Allsorts.
“What a great day! What could be better than walking along the Malvern Hills in glorious sunshine for such a fantastic cause. A big thank you to Rachael for organising and to Allsorts for everything that they do!”
Rachael would like to thank everyone who supported these events, either by taking part or donating, which in total have raised over £6,500 so far with fundraising proceeds still being received.
“Both events were so much fun. It was great to see Allsorts members, staff and Sterling networking members, together, sharing the experience and connecting, in aid of an amazing local charity.”
