COEO UK are thrilled to announce that on the 20th June 2023 Richard Grinham, our Business Development Director, successfully completed a 72 Hole Golf Marathon raising funds for Emily’s Gift.

This was no small feat which has, so far, raised £1,155.00 for this great cause.

Tuesday 20th June, as you may remember, gave Worcestershire the full breadth of the English Weather. Richard, and his partners, battled two rounds under torrential rain (which closed two of the golf courses) and then had two rounds with the beating sun.

Richard would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the following people and organizations for helping to make this day happen (apologies in advance for anyone he’s missed off):

  • Worcester Golf and Country Club for allow me to tackle 36 Holes while the course was technically closed. And, specifically to their Director of Business Development, Simon Secretan, for helping Richard to organize the event with the other clubs
  • Gaudet Luce Golf Club for providing a regular water break when the sun finally came out.
  • Harvington Golf Complex for providing time to finish his round despite the clubhouse being closed in the evening.
  • Tim Anson, COEO UK’s Managing Director, for travelling down from North Yorkshire to join the first round which started at 7:30am – what a trooper for leaving the house before 4am.
  • Olie Smart, Owner of Glass Cone Developments, for holding Richard’s chin up after several hours in the pouring rain.
  • James Bailey, Business Relationship Executive at What’s In, for jumping in at the last minute to make sure Richard didn’t have to play his third round alone. James was upbeat and helped during the hardest part of the day.
  • Claire Gregory, Owner of Chucks Away Limited, for making sure he got through those last 18 holes and for making sure he didn’t crumble before the finish line.
  • Julie Kent MBE, Found of Emily’s Gift, and all around inspirational woman. If it wasn’t for you Richard wouldn’t have had the drive to get through this. Thank you for helping to make this a success.

For those of you who don’t know – Emily’s Gift is a new children’s cancer charity founded under the umbrella of the Pied Piper Trust by Julie Kent MBE. Their mission is to raise £500,000 by 10th March 2024 to finance the employment of a specialist psychologist, with expertise in the care of children and young people with cancer. The money raised will fund a psychologist for 10 years at the children’s oncology Emily Kent Unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
