Nicola Holmes, a passionate ADHD therapeutic coach, is making waves in the world of broadcasting, having recently embarked on a series of radio and podcast appearances to share her insights on neurodiversity, spirituality, and personal growth.
As a result of Business Networking, Nicola recently appeared on BBC Radio Gloucestershire & Wiltshire with Dominic Cotter discussing her ADHD journey and her work. She absolutely loved being in the studio and found it a very uplifting experience. She is planning to return at some point.
She is also doing a podcast on 31 October with Jo Barker about ‘Finding Your Purpose’. Jo interviews entrepreneurs and personal development experts who live with intention. It encourages self-reflection and advice to lead a more fulfilling, purpose-driven life.
Nicola also has an upcoming radio interview on Tuesday 17 December at 11 am on Cotswolds Radio discussing ADHD and spirituality. Each episode is a journey, featuring thought-provoking conversations, inspiring stories and uplifting songs chosen by the studio guest. She now has the tricky task of selecting 3 favourite songs!
Something she always stresses to her two daughters and clients is that, “I believe what is meant for you will not pass you by”. You do not have to reach for it, as it will land gently in your lap. She has been manifesting a radio appearance and a podcast for quite a while so is absolutely thrilled that these things have flowed into her life. Could be national TV next!
Nicola began her career as a Holistic Integrated Psychotherapist after following a career in the corporate world and education which fitted in well with a young family. She always knew she wanted a more fulfilling pastoral role. So became a mature student for the second time.
Initially after qualifying, she focused on offering pluralistic counselling and during Covid was able to work more creatively offering Nature Therapy. Nature is her happy place and very close to her heart.
She began her Trainee Counsellor role as a Cruse Bereavement Volunteer and now donates some of her time to charity, as a Cruse Bereavement Supervisor. She believes a lot of things in life go back to loss.
She opened her own private practice in 2018 and now has her purpose made Garden Therapy Room at home in Bishops Cleeve, where she sees adults and children. She loves animals and uses her cockerpoo a therapy dog, in her sessions. Children respond very well to Freddie and he loves being cuddled.
Working online during Covid with a client, Nicola became aware of her ADHD, this also coincided with a professional blip in the road. After her diagnosis she went on a journey of Self Love and Discovery and became more aware of how her ADHD presented. It helped her make sense of her life and why she had struggled with friends, finances and relationships.
This year she decided to put a stake in the ground and specialise in working with people with neurodiversity and completed an intense ADHD Practitioner course. She feels passionately about empowering neurodivergent people to be free to be different and help them navigate their journey to go from a place of lack to thriving.
Her role has gradually evolved into a therapeutic coaching role as she believes ADHD clients often need to reflect to heal and grow but also respond to focused-driven results and goals. She works with clients to highlight the wins and looks at the dominos affecting their psychological wellbeing. People with ADHD are very attuned to other people’s energy so Nicola works intuitively with clients and always gives them take-aways from the session. Some support is also offered between sessions.
Spirituality is something close to Nicola’s heart and she lives her life following her soul path and connecting with her inner wisdom. She offers spiritually integrated supervision, coaching and therapy in addition to a deep focus on ADHD.
Nicola is new to networking but as an entrepreneur and sole trader she is passionate about raising the awareness of neurodiversity particularly ADHD. She also enjoys socialising and meeting new people. She offers tailored training on ADHD in the workplace for local employers and has presented at several networking events so is hoping some of her new connections may lead to increased demand within organisations.
Nicola is also an advocate for helping parents access special educational needs within schools and works closely with parents to support this process.
