The Chamwell Centre Charity hosted an array of #accessiblefun events for children and adults with disabilities and additional needs and their families during the Easter holidays.
The outdoor adventure playground was full of life, noise and laughter as children hunted around for animal themed clues at our Easter Treasure Hunt. There were pictures to find, sounds to make, actions to do and letters to collect. Help was on hand from a life-size pantomime black and white cat called Chris and the Easter Bunny. It was all very animally!
The Easter Bunny Hop Bop, a disco for children with disabilities and additional needs and their siblings, had The Chamwell Centre bouncing! Dancing was led by a very energetic Elsa of Little Dreamers Events. Lisa of Create Well Project brought colour to the children’s faces with beautiful face art, tattoos, and glitter. Our ‘Jive’ Bunny was very much loved and did a great job delivering chocolate eggs and giving high fives to the children.
Our event for adults and children with disabilities and additional and their families was incredibly special. An hour long performance from 80 members of I-Sing Choirs who raised the roof of The Chamwell Centre Charity. Then, the participation and laughter from our audience of adults and children with disabilities & additional needs and their families/carers blew the roof right off! 80 singers arrived at charity by double decker bus to donate a remarkable performance of modern songs to The Chamwell Centre Charity community. I-Sing Choirs fully embraced our #accessiblefun ethos and visitors were welcome to sing, dance & join in if they chose to – and they did!
There were chocolate eggs aplenty for our community thanks to Sterling Networking Group, Tewksbury kindly donating Easter Eggs for our Easter Bunny to give out at the events.
The Chamwell Centre Chairty are incredibly conscience of the limitations and accessibility issues that our community faces, and we are immensely proud to offer #accessiblefun events for children and adults with disabilities and additional needs and their families.
The Chamwell Centre Charity in Longlevens, Gloucester is designed to enable disabled children and adults with additional needs throughout Gloucestershire and beyond to overcome disability by providing accessible leisure facilities, sports, group, and social activities within a purpose-built accessible Centre.
The centre is there to benefit children and adults with a disabilities and additional needs, whether temporary or permanent, physical, or mental, visible, or not, by providing a safe accessible space in our hydrotherapy pool, soft play area, outdoor adventure playground and community cafe. We provide valuable work and social and volunteer experience for people with additional needs on our reception and in the café.
